Strength is

Strength is
a gentle and quiet spirit.

It is contentment with who God has made you,
where God has positioned you
and the great plans He has for you.

It is rising after every fall in God’s strength,
trusting that He will guide your steps and heal your wounds.

Strength may not be seen in achievement, but in the small flame of courage
(though it may only just flicker).

Strength is embracing the gifts from God: those promised and those given,
keeping your eyes open to see them, choosing joy always
 - not always happiness, but constantly joy.

Strength is never found in oneself,
but devoid of pride, is found in a steady reliance on God.

Strength is continually realizing
your own shortcomings,
weaknesses,
and admitting your inability to continue with out
God’s providence and presence,
Jesus’ saving grace
and the Spirit’s guiding hand.

Strength is not found
On earth
in wealth,
in flesh or
through pride
but is firmly rooted in heaven.

our strongest weakness

“A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.” – CS Lewis

It is said that pride comes before the fall
so we sit there on the edge,
condemning the very thought of it,
and practicing it instead.

So scared that if we make a fall,
we might be called a fool,
we shun the truth of humility
and make foolish pride our rule.

It seems to be our strongest weakness:
our lives a masquerade,
hiding behind a mask of pride
from the Sacrifice Christ made.

that song

“…be confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ.”
~Phillipians 1:6

{to a friend}

He has not yet finished with you
He might be barely started
and the map He’s written for your course
might venture to the uncharted.

There may be more question marks
where you’d like to see full-stops,
and the doors you wanted open
He may have closed with locks.

But you are His and with Him in you,
you have a confidence assured,
that He has the symphony of your life
 mapped out to every chord.

And which ever way He directs the notes –
be it tempest or lullaby,
each day He gives is yet another chance
to lift His glory high.

Right here, just where you are,
awaiting that song to play –
just listen close (hear it soft?)
Already a euphony today!

oh but when she smiles

“What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.”

The lines that frame
her tired eyes,
light up. They seem to dance.
those greyish orbs
turn to blue,
excited at the chance.

A masterpiece of
beauty
is what she then becomes –
When she smiles
she casts a spell
that can not be undone.

The laughter
that accompanies
the curving of those lips
seeps into the thirsty air
and demands
a gaze transfixed.

If I believed that magic
was real
in any way,
I would say that
I had seen it in
the way she smiled that day.

New

I like the idea of a new start.
That's why I love new notebooks (and have many unfinished ones lying around).
A new start promises adventure, opportunities, and hope.

Well Kai Sera Sera is a new start.
I can almost hear the sun shining and the rainbows beaming brightly.

The name Kai Sera Sera comes from the saying "Que Sera Sera",
which is Spanish for "What will be, will be."

It reminds me of God's providence and preservation over me and over all of His children.
It prompts me to remember that
because God has it all sorted,
there is no need for me to worry.
Or fear.
Or question.
Because I often do that.
Remembering God's providence helps me to choose joy instead.

Kai Sera Sera will be my online place of poetry, ideas, perspectives, inspiration and much more, which I pray will bless all those who read it.
